ESSEX TOWN COUNCIL SAID "NO MORE"!

You wrote Essex Town Council and in a 6 - 0 vote, Essex Town Council proclaimed Essex "NOT A WILLING HOST" for future Industrial Wind Turbines - Click here for story.

Although this is a step in the right direction - this won't stop GDF Suez and the Blue Sky Wind Project from going forward!. We need to tell the IESO (Independent Electricity System Operator) and the Province of Ontario that Essex has enough Industrial Wind Turbines!!!

NEW FACTS

1. The Deadline for submission of their proposal to the IESO is September 1st, 2015 - Less than three weeks away! This doesn't seem early in the process.
2. Landowners have already signed agreements with GDF Suez. How can they not know the turbine locations?
3. Tecumseh residents were told that there would be no turbines in Tecumseh - just the transmission line! This isn't mentioned anywhere in their plan or on their website.
4. This is NOT a done deal. This is OUR blue sky - they have to listen to us!
5. Communities across Ontario are joining forces to fight proposals like this one. WE CAN DO IT TOO!

GDF Suez wants to build a large-scale renewable energy project in OUR area.

Make an informed decision! Check out this info:

• Ontario pays the HIGHEST Electricity rates in North America - much of this goes to subsidize Industrial Wind Turbines! More Turbines means more subsidies! The cost of these subsidies ripple through Ontario's ecomony - it hurts the people, and business. Click here to read this great overview of Ontario's Energy and Wind Policy.
• Industrial Wind Turbines generate "Infrasound" - new studies indicate Infrasound can cause health problems for people within a 10KM radius of Industrial Wind Turbines! - Read this report!
• Industrial Wind Turbines have a life cycle of 15-20 years. After that, they must be decommissioned/dismantled. It is estimated that each turbine will cost between $400,000.00 - $1,000,000.00(in today's dollars) to dismantle. There are no bonds posted to pay for, or plans in place to dismantle these turbines. Given the fact that these wind companies are predominantly foreign, change ownership or, go bankrupt, it is quit realistic to expect 100's or 1,000's of dead turbines across Ontario in 20 years. Who will pay to clean up these abandoned Industrial Wind Turbines? Ontario tax payers will!!
• Wind Power doesn't deliver what it promises! The electricity that is generated by Industrial Wind Turbines is literally as reliable and steady as the wind! On hot summer still days (when electricity is needed the most) - Industrial Wind Turbines generate little or no electricity! On cold windy winter days - when it is too windy - Industrial Wind Turbines must shut down to avoid damage. Industrial Wind Turbines are at the mercy of the wind! Also - there are other factors to consider regarding the "output capacity" of Industrial Wind Turbines. Read this article for more info!
